My Mighty Counsellor

 Amen. This name, “Mighty Counselor,” speaks of both His power and His intimate care. Here is a poem celebrating this wonderful aspect of our Lord.

Mighty Counselor

You are the Mighty Counselor, With wisdom that cannot conceal, The One who knows the end and start, And speaks the truth that makes us real. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given... And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God...”(Isaiah 9:6)

Your might is not a crushing force, But strength applied with perfect grace. Your counsel is not cold advice, But truth that shines in love’s embrace.

You listen to my trembling heart, You understand my silent plea. Then with a word of sovereign power, You set my shackled spirit free.

You counsel me through Your own Word, A light upon the darkest way. You guide my steps and guard my soul, And turn my midnight into day. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”(Psalm 32:8)

No problem is too small for You, No burden is beyond Your care. You are the God of galaxies, Yet in my quiet prayer,You’re there.

So I will bring my every thought, My every worry,great or small. To You,my Mighty Counselor, The One who knows and governs all.

Thank You for wisdom, strong and sweet, For making my confusion cease. I trust Your counsel and Your might, And in Your perfect plan,I rest.
