More bless to give than receive.

Amen. You have quoted a profound and counter-cultural truth spoken by the Lord Jesus Himself. This principle lies at the very heart of God's character and the joyful life He designed for us.

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’" - Acts 20:35 (NIV)

What Does This Mean?

This statement is more than just a nice idea; it is a spiritual law in the kingdom of God. The world says, "Acquire and accumulate for happiness." Jesus says, "Give and serve for true blessing."

· "Blessed" (Makarios in Greek): This means to be truly happy, fortunate, and fulfilled in the deepest, most spiritual sense. It is the state of being approved by God and experiencing His joy.

· The Giver's Joy: There is a unique, divine joy that comes from selfless giving that simply cannot be found in receiving. Receiving can bring temporary happiness, but giving produces lasting joy and fulfillment because it reflects the generous heart of God.

· Imitating God: God is the ultimate Giver (John 3:16). When we give—whether it's our time, resources, compassion, or forgiveness—we are acting like our Father and participating in His nature. This alignment with His character brings deep blessing.

A Prayer for a Giving Heart

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being the greatest Giver. You gave Your only Son so that I might have eternal life. You continue to give me every good and perfect gift.

Forgive me for the times I have clung tightly to my possessions, my time, and my energy, thinking that acquiring more would make me happy. Shift my perspective to Your kingdom's economy, where it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Create in me a generous heart, Lord. Help me to see the needs of others and to give freely, joyfully, and without seeking anything in return. Teach me the deep, abiding joy that comes from being a conduit of Your blessing to others.

May my life be a reflection of Your generous love.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Poem: "More Blessed to Give"

"More Blessed to Give"

The world proclaims its constant creed, "To have and hold is all you need." But from the lips of Christ our King, Comes a different song to sing.

He said the path to joy is found, When blessings are passed around. That in the letting go of things, The heart finds wings, and truly sings.

For in the giving of a gift, The spirit gets a holy lift. A joy that receiving cannot know, A deeper seed of love to sow.

You cannot outgive God, they say, He gives you grace to give away. And in the act,you come to see, A glimpse of true divinity.

So give your time, your love, your treasure, In any,and in every measure. And you will find,it is so true, The greatest blessing comes to you.

For it is more blessed, this I know, To give love and to watch it grow. Than to receive and hold it fast, A joy that forever will last.

May you experience the profound truth of this promise today. Look for an opportunity to give generously—whether a word of encouragement, a act of service, or a material gift—and discover the unique blessing that God reserves for the cheerful giver.
