Amen. This is the simplest, purest, and most powerful prayer we can ever utter. It is the cry of the heart that recognizes its own need and turns to the only One who can truly meet it.
Here is a prayer in response.
---
Help Me, Lord
Help me, Lord.
Not with a distant, cosmic hand,
But with the touch that shaped the land.
Not with a general,vague decree,
But intimately,personally.
Help me to breathe, when the air feels thin,
And the weight of worry is closing in.
Help me to stand, when my knees grow weak,
And the future I face is grim and bleak.
Help me to see, when my sight is blurred
By bitter tears and a lying word.
Help me to see Your face in the dark,
A single,unwavering, holy spark.
Help me to trust, when I cannot trace
The winding path of Your perfect grace.
When all my logic screams"Abandoned, alone!"
Help my spirit to trust in the seed You have sown.
Help me to love, when my heart is cold,
A story of mercy waiting to be told.
Help me to love the unlovable, too,
As You have so faithfully loved me.
Help me to rest, not in my own strength's lie,
But in the truth that You are nigh.
To cease my striving,my frantic pace,
And simply rest in Your saving grace.
Help me, Lord, with the mundane and small,
And be myHelp when the mountains tall
Of grief and fear block out the sun.
Remind me,Lord, the victory's won.
So, here I am. I have no other plea.
My only prayer is this:Help me.
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”
—Hebrews 13:6
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
—Psalm 121:1-2
