This is the most important and beautiful surrender. It is the essence of the Christian faith—exchanging our own failing control for the perfect, loving guidance of God.
Here is a prayer and poem of response, affirming this sacred commitment.

I Surrender
I surrender my life to Your holy hand, No more by my own will I’ll stand. I’ve held the pieces, tried to command, But now,at the cross, I make my last stand.
I surrender the plans that I thought were so wise, The desperate gleam in my own weary eyes. The tangled-up threads of my own device, To the hands that fashioned the stars and the skies.
I surrender my past, with its regret and its shame, The hidden old wounds, and the guilt I still name. I lay down the record of my own bitter blame, At the foot of the cross, where He bore it all. Jesus, Your name.
I surrender my future, the path yet unseen, The worries and wonders of what might have been. I trade my illusions for what is serene: Your good, pleasing, and perfect will,so sure and so clean. (Romans 12:2)
I surrender my heart, with its passions and pride, The deep, hidden places I’ve desperately tried to hide. Come,Spirit, come rushing, a healing tide, And in this surrendered vessel, now faithfully abide.
So here is my life. It is no longer my own. From this moment forward,I am known as Your own. I am safe in Your hand,on Your throne. I surrender,my Lord, to You alone.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” — Romans 12:1
