Table in the Valley of Shadow of Death

Amen. What a beautiful and profound declaration of gratitude. It shifts the focus from the terror of the valley to the provision and presence of God within it. It recognizes that even in the darkest place, God is host, protector, and provider.

Here is a poem of thanksgiving for that table in the valley.

---

The Table in the Valley

I walk a path of shadow, deep, Where fears awake and terrors creep. The valley of the deathly shade, Where light and hope seem to fade.

But here, in this most barren place, I see the evidence of grace. Not an escape, not a swift retreat, But something astonishingly sweet.

You prepare a table before me. Right here,in the presence of my enemy. You do not just guide methrough the pain, You invite me to feast in the midst of the strain.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. (Psalm 23:5)

The table is set with mercy and grace, A holy light fills this dark space. The bread is Your presence,so real and so near, The wine is Your joy, conquering fear.

My enemies—doubt, despair, and death— Watch as You give me life and breath. They see me dine, they see me blessed, While in Your perfect peace I rest.

This is the victory, this is the sign, That every shadow,You make divine. You transform the valley of suffering and loss, Into a place where I see the cross.

For on that cross, the darkest vale, Where every evil did prevail, You set a table for all to see— Your broken body, setting us free.

So thank You for this table, Lord, For every promise in Your Word. Thank You that in the shadow of death, I taste Your goodness with every breath.

My cup overflows. My heart is still. I dine by faith, upon Your will. And I am strengthened by this meal, To walk this path,Your love to feel.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
