My Peace I leave with you.

Amen. These are the very words of Jesus, a bequest of peace unlike any the world can offer. Here is a poem on that profound and comforting gift.

---

My Peace I Leave

“My peace I leave with you,” You said, As love poured from Your heart and head. Not as the world gives, frail and brief, A temporary, small relief— But deep, and lasting, full, and true, A gift from me,My peace to you. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”(John 14:27)

It is the peace that stilled the storm, A grace to keep our hearts so warm. It is the calm before Your throne, A quietness we’ve always known Was waiting for our souls to claim, When we first called upon Your name.

This peace will stand when structures fall, Will answer fear’s most desperate call. It is a sentry for the mind, A perfect, holy, gentle bind That holds us fast through joy and pain, Through sunshine and through falling rain.

So I receive this peace today, I will not let it slip away. I’ll let it rule within my heart, And from Your presence, not depart.

Thank you, Jesus, for this gift, Your peace,my soul will now uplift.

Amen.
