Your Presence is all that i want.

That is the purest and most profound prayer of the heart. It echoes the deepest desire of David, the psalmist, and finds its ultimate fulfillment in the promise of God's Spirit. Here is a response in the form of a prayerful poem.

---

Your Presence Is All I Want

Not the gifts that Your hand can bring, Nor the songs that the angels sing. Not the answers to questions deep, Nor the promises I long to keep.

More than sunlight upon my face, More than riches or titles of grace. Beyond the trophies the world holds high, This single truth is my soul's cry:

Your presence is all that I want.

When Moses stood on the holy ground, And a burning bush was all that he found, He didn't ask for a king's command, Just to know the I AM's hand. “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”(Exodus 33:15)

When David, a man who followed Your heart, Dwelt in deserts, torn apart, He knew one thing, his one request, A truth that put all else to rest: “One thing I ask from the Lord… that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.”(Psalm 27:4)

So take the noise, take the fleeting pleasure, The world's false and crumbling treasure. Let others seek for a crown of gold, A story that's quickly grown old.

For in Your presence is fullness of joy, A peace that nothing can destroy. In Your presence, fears are made still, And my soul finds rest in Your will.

So here I am, with this open heart, No other treasure,no other part. Just to know You,and to be known, Upon Your mercy,to be thrown.

Your presence is all that I want, The beginning, the end, the font. My strength,my song, my great reward, Now and forever,my Lord.
