This name is given to us in Scripture:

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

— Revelation 22:16

“We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts.”

— 2 Peter 1:19

What does it mean that Jesus is the Morning Star?

· ✨ He Guides Our Way: Just as the morning star has guided travelers for millennia, Jesus guides us safely through the darkness of this world into the eternal day of God’s presence.

· ✨ He Is Sovereign and Beautiful: The morning star is one of the brightest and most majestic objects in the sky—pointing to the supremacy and beauty of Christ above all things.

A Prayer to the Morning Star

Lord Jesus, Bright Morning Star,

You are the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Rise in my heart today.

Dispel every shadow of fear, doubt, and despair.

Bring hope where there is weariness, clarity where there is confusion, and peace where there is turmoil.

Guide my steps today as You guided the wise men of old.

Let Your light illuminate my path and Your presence be the dawn of a new beginning in my life.

I look to You—not to the darkness around me—for my help, my joy, and my salvation.

Thank You for being the faithful promise of a new and eternal day.
