God is Love

 Amen. "God is love" is one of the most profound and foundational declarations in all of Scripture. It is not merely that God loves or shows love—it is that His very nature, His essence, is love. Everything He does flows from this perfect, holy, and eternal love.

This ultimate truth is stated clearly in God's Word:

"Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." - 1 John 4:8 (ESV)

"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." - 1 John 4:16 (ESV)

What Does It Mean That "God Is Love"?

This simple statement has infinite depth:

· Love Originates in God: He is the source of all true love. Any love we experience or express is a reflection of His character.

· His Actions Are Love: Every action God takes—from creation to redemption to final judgment—is consistent with and motivated by His loving nature. Even His justice and holiness are expressions of His love, protecting what is good and right.

· Love Defined the Cross: The ultimate proof and definition of God's love is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

  "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." > - 1 John 4:10 (ESV)

· Our Identity and Calling: Because we are made in His image and are His children, we are called to live in and reflect this same love.

  "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." > - 1 John 4:7 (ESV)

A Prayer of Response to God's Love

Heavenly Father,

We are in awe of You. You are Love itself. Every good and perfect gift flows from Your loving nature. Thank You for not just showing love, but for being love.

Help us to comprehend the width, length, height, and depth of Your love for us in Christ Jesus—a love that surpasses knowledge.

Because You are love, we have no reason to fear. Because You are love, we can trust Your heart even when we don't understand Your hand. Because You are love, we are never alone.

Fill us with Your Spirit so that we can love others with Your love—a love that is patient, kind, forgiving, and selfless. May our lives be a reflection of who You are.

"God Is Love"

Before the world began to be, For all eternity, There was not loneliness,but Love, In glorious light above.

The Father, Son, and Spirit shared, A love that always cared. And from that love,the world was made, A loving plan,a plan displayed.

And when we turned and went astray, And chose a different way, That love did not just stand aside, That love came forth,and bled, and died.

For God is love, and love must act, A simple,profound, and glorious fact. It cannot watch and simply see, It must step in and set us free.

So on the cross, we came to know, How far that love would go. It paid the price,it took the pain, To make us clean and whole again.

So now we say, we now proclaim, And glorify His holy name: Our God is love!Our God is light! Our God is strength,our God is might!

And in that love, we live and move, And His great faithfulness we prove. God is love—our hope,our story, Our eternal joy and glory.
