I Worship You in Praise and Truth
A Reflection on John 4:24 and Psalm 145:3
I worship You in praise and truth—not with empty, practiced phrase,
Not with lips that move while my heart is wandering other ways.
Not with ritual, not with performance, not with a show for human eyes,
But in the hidden place where only You can realize
The deepest longing of my soul—the need to know Your face,
To kneel before Your holiness and rest within Your grace.
God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
I worship You in praise—with a heart that overflows,
With a voice that lifts Your name wherever my spirit goes.
Praise that rises like incense, praise that never fades,
Praise that echoes through the valleys and climbs the highest glades.
Not for what You give me, but for who You are,
My Morning Star, my Shepherd, my bright and morning star.
I worship You in truth—not hiding who I am,
Not dressing up my failures or pretending I'm a lamb
Without a stain, without a scar, without a single flaw.
I come as I am—broken, honest, standing in awe
Of the One who sees me fully and loves me still the same,
Who calls me by my name and fans my faith's small flame.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
Truth—not a doctrine I defend,
But a relationship, a life, a love that will not end.
Truth that cuts through every lie, that burns away the dross,
That points me to the cross where my salvation was the cost.
So I worship You in praise and truth—this is my offering:
My life laid down, my heart poured out, my everything.
Not perfect, but sincere; not flawless, but true.
My worship rises, Lord, from a heart that belongs to You.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3)
Amen.
