That is the glorious, life-giving promise of the Gospel. Here is a poem celebrating the abundant life found in Christ.
---
Abundantly
You did not come to merely save, To rescue from a gloomy grave, Then leave us in a barren land, To barely follow, barely stand.
You came that we might live and thrive, Your resurrection in us,alive! A life not measured by degree, But lived in depth, abundantly. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”(John 10:10)
Abundant life is joy that stays, Through complicated, weary days. It’s peace that guards the heart and mind, When answers are so hard to find.
It’s love that overflows the soul, That seeks to make the broken whole. It’s purpose found in knowing You, In everything we say and do.
It is the fruit Your Spirit grows, A river that within us flows. It is not wealth the world applauds, But life held tightly in God’s hands.
You are the Vine, we are the branch, No life apart from Your advance. We draw our nourishment from You, Our lives made rich and fresh and new.
So let this life not be about A selfish,turned-inward doubt, But let it spill on dry, cracked ground, Let Your abundance through me sound.
Thank You, Jesus, for the cross, That saves us from eternal loss, And gives us,now, the gift to be Alive, and full, and truly free.
Amen.
