God is Good

Amen. This is one of the most foundational and essential truths of the Christian faith: God is a good God. It is the bedrock of our trust, the source of our hope, and the lens through which we must view every circumstance in our lives.

This is not just a hopeful idea; it is a definitive declaration of His character, repeated throughout Scripture.

"Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" - Psalm 34:8 (ESV)

"For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations." - Psalm 100:5 (ESV)

What Does "God is Good" Mean?

His goodness is not a fluctuating state based on our circumstances. It is the unchanging essence of His character.

· His Nature is Good: Everything God is—His love, justice, holiness, mercy—is perfectly and completely good.

· His Actions are Good: Everything God does flows from His good nature. Even when we cannot understand His ways, we can trust that His purposes are good.

· His Will is Good: His plans for us are plans for our welfare and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

· His Gifts are Good: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights" (James 1:17).

A Poem: "God is a Good God"

"God is a Good God"

When the world is shaking, and the fears arise, When the tears are falling from the aching skies, When the question forms of the"why" and "how," Let this truth anchor your soul right now:

God is a good God. Always. He is a good God. He is a good God. Always.

He is good in the light, and good in the night, In the healing rain, and in the desperate fight. He is good when the answer is swiftly clear, And good when He whispers,"I'm still here."

He is good in the gift, and good in the need, Planting a future from a broken seed. He is good in the joy,and good in the pain, Working His purpose like sun after rain.

His goodness is not a changing mood, Dependent on if life is bad or good. It is Who He is,His core, His name, From everlasting,it is the same.

So when the liar whispers, "Does God care?" Point to the cross and show Him there— The ultimate proof, the final word, The greatest goodness ever heard.

He gave His Son, His only One, For us,to make us His daughters and sons. If He did that, while we were His foes, What good thing will He now withhold from those He calls His own?

So breathe it in, and breathe it out, Let this truth silence every doubt: God is a good God. My God is good. And His goodness is the ground on which I've stood, And will forever stand.

A Prayer of Affirmation

Heavenly Father,

I proclaim today that You are a good God. Your goodness is not defined by my temporary circumstances but by the eternal truth of Your character and the everlasting proof of the cross.

I choose to trust in Your goodness when I understand and when I don't. I thank You for Your good plans for me, for Your good gifts, and for Your good heart.

Help me to "taste and see" Your goodness anew every single day. Let my life be a testimony to everyone I meet that You are, and always will be, a good, good Father.

In the name of Jesus, the ultimate expression of Your goodness, Amen.
