That is the heart of true discipleship—a radical reevaluation of everything in light of knowing Christ. Here is a poem on that profound exchange.
---
All Counted as Loss
I count it all as loss, as vain, This world's accomplishment and gain. My trophies, status, righteous deed— For Christ,I declare them all as greed. “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.”(Philippians 3:7)
The currency of human pride, The things for which I’ve lived and died, Are worthless, trash, a fading mist, Compared to this one thing I’ve kissed: “What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.”(Philippians 3:8)
The priceless treasure of Your grace, The mercy in Your holy face. To know You,and Your rising power, In every sunlit hour, dark hour.
So let it all be stripped away, The dross of night, the shine of day. Let me be found in You alone, Your righteousness my only own.
For all is loss, and all is won, In You,the everlasting Son. This is the trade, the great exchange, My life for Yours, forever changed.
I count it loss, to find my all, Answering Your compelling call.
Amen.
