Sufficient

“Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof,” A warning from the heart of Love. To not borrow tomorrow’s fear, Or anxious thought to harbor here. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”(Matthew 6:34)

The weight of “what if,” grim and gray, Can steal the grace meant for today. The future’s shadow,long and deep, Can rob the present peace I keep.

So give me, Lord, the daily bread, The strength for what lies just ahead. The manna for this one day’s need, Upon Your word,let my soul feed. “Give us today our daily bread.”(Matthew 6:11)

Let not my heart be overcome By battles that have not yet come. But for the trial now in view, Let Your sufficient grace break through. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”(2 Corinthians 12:9)

I trust You for the sun’s new light, And for the terrors of the night. I’ll face the evil of the day, Then in Your arms,I’ll give it away.

For You are Lord of what’s to be, And You are here,today, with me.
