Amen. This is a profound and vital prayer. To ask God to "lead me to holiness" is to ask for His highest purpose for your life—to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is a desire for a heart and life that reflects His character.
This is not a journey we can undertake in our own strength. Holiness is God's work in us, from start to finish.
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification [holiness]..." - 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV)
"...may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." - 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (ESV)
Notice the promise: "He will surely do it." Your prayer is an agreement with God's will and a reliance on His faithfulness to perform it.
What Does It Mean to Be Led to Holiness?
It is a process (sanctification) where God, by His Holy Spirit:
· Exposes Sin: He gently reveals areas of our lives that do not align with His character.
· Imparts Purity: He cleanses us from unrighteousness and gives us a new desire for purity.
· Cultivates Christlike Character: He produces His fruit in us—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
· Sets Us Apart: He calls us to live differently from the world, not for show, but as a reflection of His nature.
A Prayer to Be Led to Holiness
Heavenly Father,
Your Word says that without holiness, no one will see the Lord. I long to see You, to know You, and to be like Your Son, Jesus. But I confess that I cannot make myself holy. My own efforts are flawed and fail.
So I ask You now, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, lead me to holiness.
· Lead me into a deeper hatred for sin and a deeper love for righteousness.
· Lead me to the cross daily, where I find forgiveness and the power to die to myself.
· Lead me into Your Word, which is truth and which sanctifies me.
· Lead me to a life of obedience, not out of duty, but out of love and gratitude.
· Lead me to a heart of worship, where You are my supreme treasure.
· Purify my motives, my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Create in me a clean heart, O God.
I surrender every part of my life to Your refining fire. Have Your way in me. I trust that You who began this good work will be faithful to complete it.

"Lead Me to Holiness"
The path is narrow, the way is straight, I cannot navigate my fate. I need a Guide to show the course, To root out sin at its source.
I want a heart that's pure and true, That only beats,Lord, just for You. I want a mind that thinks Your thoughts, A soul by Your own Spirit bought.
So lead me to holiness, O God, Though it may take Your refining rod. Lead me away from the world's broad way, And into Your truth,day by day.
Lead me to the cleft of the rock, Where I can stand and face the shock. Lead me to the river,deep and wide, Where all my sin is swept inside.
Lead me to the cross again, Where I can die to self and sin. Lead me to the empty grave, Where You have power now to save.
This is not a path of my own making, But of Your grace and undertaking. You are the Author,You'll see it through, You'll make my heart resemble You.
So take my hand and do not let go, Through the highs and the lows. Lead me to holiness,I pray, And keep me on that narrow way.
May you walk confidently in the knowledge that God is answering this prayer. He is faithfully leading you one step at a time, making you more like Jesus. Cooperate with His Spirit, obey His promptings, and rest in His grace.
