Fear of the Lord is the Fountain of Life.

Amen. The "fear of the Lord" is indeed the beginning of wisdom and the foundation of a life that honors God. It is a theme that runs deeply throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. It is not a terror that drives us away from God, but a reverent awe that draws us into a right relationship with Him.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise."

- Psalm 111:10 (NIV)

"And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

- Deuteronomy 10:12 (NIV)

What is the Fear of the Lord?

The fear of the Lord encompasses:

· Reverent Awe: Recognizing God’s holiness, majesty, and absolute authority over all creation. It is standing in wonder of who He is.

· Holy Respect: Honoring God in every area of life—our thoughts, words, actions, and worship. It is taking God seriously.

· Obedient Love: A heartfelt desire to please Him by following His commands and turning away from evil. True fear of the Lord leads to obedience.

· Humble Dependence: Acknowledging that God is the source of all wisdom, strength, and life itself. It is trusting Him completely.

A Prayer for the Fear of the Lord

Heavenly Father,

You are holy, righteous, and majestic beyond compare. Your power created the universe, and Your wisdom sustains it. Forgive me for the times I have taken Your presence lightly or ignored Your commands.

Instill in me a deep and genuine fear of the Lord—not a spirit of timidity, but a heart of reverence and awe. Help me to live each day conscious of Your holiness and Your authority over my life. Let this holy fear shape my decisions, purify my desires, and guide my steps.

May Your fear be the foundation of my wisdom and the motivation for my obedience. Teach me to walk humbly before You all the days of my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Poem: "The Fear of the Lord"

"The Fear of the Lord"

It is not a fear that makes me flee,

But a awe that draws me closer to Thee.

It is not a dread of punishment alone,

But a reverence before Your throne.

It is the wisdom that understands,

That my life is held within Your hands.

It is the heartbeat of the wise,

The opening of spiritual eyes.

It is the turning away from sin,

A desire to be pure within.

It is the worship, humble and deep,

Promises You forever keep.

The fear of the Lord—the start of all,

Answering heaven’s urgent call.

It is the path, it is the way,

To live forever in Your grace each day.

Oh, bless me with this holy fear,

That I might hold Your presence dear.

And in that awe, may I truly see,

The beauty of who You are to me.

May the fear of the Lord guide you, protect you, and fill you with divine wisdom and understanding. Walk in His ways, and He will direct your path.
