Walk with the Lord

Amen. “Walk with the Lord” is one of the most beautiful and practical descriptions of the Christian life. It speaks of intimacy, consistency, direction, and companionship. It’s not a frantic sprint nor a aimless wander, but a daily, step-by-step journey in close fellowship with God.

This concept is woven throughout Scripture:

"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8 (NIV)

"And Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." - Genesis 5:24 (NIV)

"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight." - 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (ESV)

What Does It Mean to "Walk with the Lord"?

To walk with God means to:

· Live in Constant Fellowship: It is a continuous, ongoing relationship, not just a Sunday activity. It involves constant prayer, conversation, and awareness of His presence.

· Move in the Same Direction: It means aligning your will with His will, your desires with His desires, and your steps with His path. You are going His way, not your own.

· Keep Pace with Him: It requires paying attention to His timing—not running ahead or lagging behind, but moving in step with His Spirit.

· Depend on Him for the Journey: It acknowledges that you need His strength, guidance, and companionship for every step of the way.

A Prayer to Walk with the Lord

Heavenly Father,

My deepest desire is to walk with You. I don't want to walk ahead, behind, or on a separate path. I want to walk with You, in step with Your Spirit, every day of my life.

Forgive me for the times I have rushed ahead in my own strength or wandered off onto paths that lead away from You. Draw me back to Your side.

· Guide my steps. Light my path with Your Word so I know which way to go.

· Set the pace. Help me to slow down when I need to wait on You and to move forward boldly when You say "go."

· Be my constant companion. Let me be aware of Your presence with me in the mundane moments and the major decisions.

· Conversate with me. Teach me to pray without ceasing, to listen for Your voice, and to recognize Your guidance.

May my life be a steady, faithful walk with You, just as Enoch's was. Let my journey reflect a heart that trusts You and a will that is surrendered to Yours.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Poem: "Walk with the Lord"

"Walk with the Lord"

I do not want to run ahead, By my own foolish spirit led. I do not want to lag behind, With doubting heart and wandering mind.

I want to walk right by His side, In Him,my hiding place, my guide. To match my stride to His own pace, And rest upon His sovereign grace.

To walk with Him in cool of day, To hear what He might have to say. To walk with Him through trial and pain, And in the sun and in the rain.

To walk with Him is to be sure, That every step will be secure. It is to know, whate’er befall, My Father’s hand is on it all.

It is to talk and to be still, To know His pleasure, know His will. It is the sweetest journey known, To never be,walk, be alone.

So, walk with God, and do not stray, Upon this narrow, holy way. And you will find,at journey’s end, A faithful Father, and a Friend.

Walk with the Lord, from this day forth, Due north and south, due east and west. And find in Him your endless rest.

May your walk with God be intimate, joyful, and steadfast. May you know the peace of His presence and the assurance of His direction every single day.
