Pray to thy Father in Heaven.

Praying to "Our Father in Heaven" is the very model Jesus gave us for how to approach God. It is intimate yet reverent, personal yet corporate. It is the foundation of all Christian prayer.

Here is a prayer based on the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), which Jesus taught His disciples when they asked Him how to pray.

A Prayer to Our Father in Heaven

Our Father in Heaven,

We come before You, not as distant subjects to a far-off king, but as beloved children to a loving Dad. Thank You for the spirit of adoption that allows us to call You "Father."

Hallowed be Your name. We worship You.Your name is holy, set apart, and worthy of all praise. May our thoughts, our words, and our actions today honor You and bring glory to Your name.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. We surrender our plans and our desires to Yours.Rule in our hearts, our homes, our churches, and our nations. Bring the reality of heaven—Your justice, Your peace, Your healing, and Your righteousness—into our broken world. Start with us.

Give us this day our daily bread. We trust You for today's needs.Provide us with everything we require—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We depend on You, our faithful Provider.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Father, forgive us our sins. We have missed the mark in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We confess them to You now... (Pause here to silently confess any specific sins) And we choose,by Your grace, to forgive everyone who has sinned against us. We release them from the debt we feel they owe us, just as You have released us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Guard our hearts and minds.Give us discernment to recognize the snares of the enemy and the strength to resist them. Be our deliverer and our shield.

For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. We declare that it's all about You.The kingdom belongs to You. The power is Yours. The glory is Yours. Not just for now, but forever and ever.

We pray all this in the mighty and precious name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
