Lord, Your Light will overcome darkness in my life.

Amen. That is a powerful declaration of faith in the conquering power of God's light. It is a truth rooted in the very nature of who He is.

Here is a poem of affirmation and hope for that promise.

The Unfailing Dawn

This darkness that I feel and see, Has not the final claim on me. It is a shadow, deep and long, But it cannot stand where it does wrong…

…Against the nature of Your name, The Victorious One,the Living Flame. For You are light, and in Your gaze, The night must flee in stunned amaze.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)

Your light will dissipate the darkness in my life. It will cut through like a surgeon’s knife, Separating truth from the lie, Drying the tears from my eye.

It will expose what hides in shame, And heal me in Your holy name. It will reveal the path ahead, Where my reluctant feet may tread.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105)

This is no gentle, distant star, But a light that knows me who I are. It knows my fears,it knows my pain, And still it calls my name again.

It is the light of love and grace That shone from Jesus’holy face. The light that blazed from the empty grave— Mighty and willing now to save.

So let it flood each hidden part, My mind,my will, my broken heart. Dispel the doubt, the grief, the sin, And make Your radiant home within.

For even one small candle’s glow Can make the deepest darkness go. And You,my God, are more than bright— You are my everlasting light.
