Know the truth and the truth shall set you free

This is a cornerstone promise of Christ, revealing that true freedom is not a political or social condition, but a spiritual reality found in a Person—Himself.

Here is a poem on that liberating truth.

---

The Liberating Truth

It is not a fact to store in the mind, A philosophy of a certain kind. It is not a theory, vague and deep, A secret the intellect must keep.

You spoke of a Person, a living Way, The Radiance of the Father’s day. The Answer to every question and plea: “I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)

So to know the truth is to know His face, To receive His forgiveness,His wonderous grace. It is to abide in His every word, To trust the sure promise that’s been heard.

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (John 8:31-32)

This truth cuts the chains of the darkest lie That we are unloved, and we must get by On our own strength, our own merit, our name— A cycle of striving,of guilt, and of shame.

It shatters the bondage of what we’ve been taught, The cultural currents for which we have fought. It breaks the stronghold of sin and of death, And gives us the power of Spirit-breath.

And the truth shall set you free. Free from the past that continues to bind. Free from the prison of your own mind. Free from the fear of what is to come. Free to be healed, and free to become.

This is the freedom for which we are made, Not a fleeting escape,a mere charade. It is the freedom to be as designed— A reflection of God in humanity shined.

So let me not just know about You, But let me truly, deeply know You. Let Your truth be my substance,my air, And live in the freedom beyond compare.

For the Son is the Truth, and if He makes you free, Then you are free indeed. Amen.
