Hallowed Be Thy Name
Honour be to Your Name.
Not just in words we lightly speak,
but in the substance of our days.
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.”(Matthew 6:9)
Let this be the first petition of the heart—
before our needs,before our fears—
that You be revered, lifted high, made holy
in the earth of our lives.
In all the earth—
Let Your Name be honored in the symphony of creation,
in the thunder’s proclamation and the sparrow’s quiet trust.
Let the stars spell out Your glory,
and the mountains bow in silent awe.(Psalm 19:1)
Let every atom hum with the truth:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”(Isaiah 6:3)
In my life—
Let Your Name be honored in my obedience,
when it is costly.
In my silence, when I withhold the clever insult.
In my speech, when truth is my only currency.
Let my actions frame a window
through which others glimpse Your character.
“Let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven.”(Matthew 5:16)
In my worship—
Not just in song, but in surrender.
Not just in volume, but in virtue.
Let my praise be the full-bodied offering,
the living sacrifice.(Romans 12:1)
Let every note, every bent knee, every lifted hand
be a testimony to Your worthiness.
“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name.”(Psalm 96:8)
In my suffering—
When the path is pain and the“why” hangs heavy,
let my steadfastness—fueled by grace alone—
honor You.
Let the world see a trust that does not crumble,
a hope anchored beyond the storm,
and wonder at the God who sustains it.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.”(Proverbs 18:10)
In my joy—
Let it be a fountain that clearly springs from You.
Let my laughter be a witness that my God is good,
and my delight a banner that flies in Your courts.(Psalm 100:2)
Above every other name—
For there is no other.
“God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”(Philippians 2:9-10)
Let my knee bow now.
Let my heart bow now.
Let my will bow now.
Honour be to Your Name, O Lord.
May it be the melody of my existence,
the gravity of my choices,
the signature on my soul.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
in the mundane and the magnificent,
let my life be a single, echoing refrain:
Holy.
Holy.
Holy.
Honour be to Your Name.
Amen.
