I exchange my crown for your Glory.

 The Exchange

I take this crown—this fragile, fading thing,

Of my own making, all my striving brings—

This circlet woven from ambition's thread,

The glory of the self,by self be-fed.

And here, before the throne of matchless grace,

I lay it down.I turn away my face

From its reflected,hollow, shallow sheen.

I exchange my crown for Your glory, unseen.

They lay their crowns before the throne and say: "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power..." (Revelation 4:10-11)

Take my crown of pride, for Your crown of humility.

Take my crown ofcontrol, for Your crown of sovereign liberty.

Take my crown ofachievement, for Your crown of grace.

Take my crown ofself, for the glory of Your face.

For what is my glory but a weight, a false, consuming fire?

But Yours is love, and life, and all my soul's desire.

You wore the crown of thorns to win for me this right—

To trade my rags of royalty for Your unending light.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place... (Philippians 2:8-9)

So let the trade be final. Let the transfer be complete.

My small story swallowed in Your victory, vast and sweet.

Clothe me in the radiance that comes from You alone,

Till all that's left to see,Lord, is Your glory on the throne.

I am crowned in You.

My only boast is in Your name.

My crown is Your glory. Forever, the same.

Amen.

This is the heart of true worship: the joyful surrender of all we are and have for the surpassing worth of knowing Him. In His kingdom, the path to being crowned with glory is to lay every crown we have at His feet. It is the wisest and most glorious exchange.
