Make us a holy vessels.

 Make Us Holy Vessels

Make us holy vessels, Lord, fit for the Master’s use.

Not made of gold or silver by our own skill produced,

But clay within Your hands, upon the Potter’s wheel,

Shaped by Your will alone,Your perfect grace to feel.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. (2 Timothy 2:20-21)

Empty us of all that sullies, of pride and selfish stain.

Cleanse uswith the living water, flowing from the veins

Of Christ, our great Redeemer. Let Your fire refine

Until we bear the markings of a purpose all-divine.

Fill us with Your Spirit—not with common, earthly thing,

But with the oil of gladness, with the song Your servants sing.

Fill us with Your wisdom, with compassion deep and true,

That we might overflow, dear Lord, with what we hold of You.

For a vessel’s holy purpose is to carry what’s inside,

To bear the precious treasure that in us You choose to hide.

To be poured out in service,to be lifted up in praise,

A channel of Your mercy for the balance of our days.

Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? (Romans 9:21)

So take us, shape us, fill us, set us wholly apart.

Make us holy vessels, surrendered in our heart.

Not for our own glory, but for Yours and Yours alone—

Your vessel, cleansed and ready, to make Your goodness known.

Amen.
