The Lion and the Lamb.

 The Lion and the Lamb

Behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah,

The Root of David—roaring,rending through.

All heaven waits the word of its Conqueror,

The royal claim, the long-promised, the true.

See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah... has triumphed. (Revelation 5:5)

But look again—what mystery is this?

Not a beast of prey with fury in His eyes,

But a Lamb standing,as if slain, in bliss,

Bearing in His body the sacrifice.

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne. (Revelation 5:6)

The Lion—in His strength, no foe can stand.

The Lamb—in His weakness,God’s own battle plan.

The Lion’s victory was by the Lamb’s own blood;

The Lamb’s submission was the Lion’s way to reign in love.

He is the fierce Protector with a shepherd’s tender heart.

The Judge whose grace and mercy give the guilty a new start.

The Sovereign who rules with a scar upon His side,

The Warrior whose weapon was that He willingly died.

So let the universe in awe and wonder kneel,

As Lion and as Lamb before us are revealed—

One glorious Person,in whom all contrasts blend,

Our mighty King and sacrificing Friend.

Worthy is the Lion who is the Lamb that was slain,

To receive all power, and wealth, and wisdom, and strength,

And honor, and glory, and praise!

Amen.
