Holy Spirit, fall upon me.

Here is a prayer in verse for the Holy Spirit to fall upon you, anchored in the scriptural promises of His coming and power.

Holy Spirit, Fall Upon Me

Holy Spirit, fall upon me now.

Not as a gentle, distant dove alone,

But as the rushing, mighty wind that shook that upper room,

As tongues of living fire to cleanse, empower, and consume.

Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:2-4)

Come as the Promise of the Father, the sacred, pledged reward.

Come as theSpirit of Truth, to teach me of my Lord.

Come as theHelper, standing close in every trial I face.

Come as theComforter, to minister Your grace.

Fall upon my mind—illumine every hidden part.

Fall upon my heart—with holy love and fire impart.

Fall upon my lips—that I may speak with heaven’s grace.

Fall upon my hands—to serve in this appointed place.

Where I am weak, be my strength. Where I am bound, bring release.

Where I am barren, bring the fruit of righteousness and peace.

Where I am silent, give me words and boldness to proclaim

The wonders of my Savior and the glory of His name.

I will pour out my Spirit on all people... (Joel 2:28)

I yield. I wait. I open every door.

Come,Holy Spirit, as in days of old, and pour.

Fall upon me. Fill me. Use me. Have Your way.

Let this be my Pentecost,my everlasting day.

Amen.

Understanding This Prayer

When we pray for the Holy Spirit to "fall upon" us, we are asking for a fresh, tangible encounter with God's presence and power for a purpose. This echoes several biblical themes:

· For Empowerment: The Spirit "fell upon" individuals in the Old Testament (Numbers 11:25-26) and the New (Acts 10:44) to equip them for specific service, leadership, or proclamation.

· For Filling: As believers, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us (1 Corinthians 6:19). To pray for Him to "fall upon" us is to ask for a renewed infilling—a fresh surge of His power, peace, or guidance for our current circumstances.

· For Alignment: It is a prayer of surrender, asking for our will to be submerged in His, so that our lives bear the "fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23) and operate in His gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).

Prayer Postures to Welcome the Spirit

As you pray, you might find it helpful to:

· Come with Expectancy: Believe that God is eager to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask (Luke 11:13).

· Come with Surrender: Open every area of your life—your plans, relationships, and desires—to His lordship.

· Come with Worship: Focus on Jesus. The Holy Spirit's primary mission is to glorify Christ and reveal Him to us (John 16:14).

May you know the fresh wind and fire of His presence, empowering you for the life and calling God has for you. If you are seeking the Spirit's guidance for a specific decision or situation, you can bring that before Him as you pray.
