May Your Glory Fall
May Your glory fall upon me now.
Not as a distant, untouchable cloud on a peak,
But as a covering, tangible, and meek—
A weight of wonder,a density of grace
That marks this time, and consecrates this space.
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. (Exodus 40:34)
Let it fall as fire—to purify, refine,
Burn away the chaff, and make Your image shine.
Let it fall ascloud—to guide me through the night,
A pillar of presence,my shield and my light.
I ask as Moses asked: “Show me Your glory, I pray.”
Not for spectacle alone, but to know Your way—
Your goodness,Your character, Your mercy, Your name.
Upon this humble heart, let that holy flame
Descend and rest, until I am changed by the sight,
Transfigured from within by Your love and Your light.
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
May Your glory fall, and in its falling, raise
A life that echoes Your eternal praise.
Not for my exaltation, but for Your name’s renown,
Until my very being is a glory-crown
For You,my King.
Fall upon me. Fill this place.
Have Your way. Reveal Your face.
Amen.
