Walking on Stormy Seas
The waves were high, the winds were strong,
The night was dark and long.
I called Your name above the roar,
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."
You saw me sinking in despair,
The water rising everywhere.
You reached Your hand and pulled me near,
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."
Not by my strength, not by my might,
But by Your word that spoke the light.
You calmed the chaos with Your voice,
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."
When I take my eyes off You,
The waves return, the fears break through.
But fix my gaze upon Your face—
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."
So let the tempest rage and roar,
I'll trust the One who walks before.
For where You lead, I will not fear—
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."
And when this storm has passed away,
I'll praise You still for this very day.
You held me fast, You set me free—
"You raised me up to walk on stormy seas."

A Prayer for Walking on Stormy Seas
Lord Jesus,
The storms of life rage around me.
The winds howl,
the waves crash,
and my feet feel unsteady.
But You call me to come.
You say, "Take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid."
Give me the faith to step out of the boat,
to keep my eyes on You,
to walk where only You can walk.
When I sink beneath the waves,
when fear overtakes my heart,
reach out Your hand and catch me.
Lift me up again.
You raised me up to walk on stormy seas—
not because I am strong,
but because You are with me.
So let me fix my gaze upon Your face.
Let me trust Your voice above the roar.
And when the storm is over,
let me worship You
with a faith that has been tested and found true.
In Your mighty name,
Amen.
