Once saved, forever save.

Here is a reflection and a collection of scriptures exploring the assurance of eternal security for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Held Forever

Once saved, forever held—

Not by my grip, but by His hand.

Not by my strength, but by His grace,

Upon the solid Rock I stand.

I did not earn this gift of life,

And I cannot lose what I did not gain.

It rests not on my faithfulness,

But on the One who broke every chain.

Once saved, forever kept—

The Shepherd guards His own.

No predator can snatch me away,

No power dethrones Him from His throne.

I may stumble, I may fall,

I may wander, I may stray.

But His love will seek me out again,

And bring this wandering sheep back home to stay.

Once saved, forever sealed—

The Spirit is the guarantee.

A deposit of what is yet to come,

For all eternity.

Not by my works, not by my will,

But by the Father's sovereign hand.

He who began this work in me

Will bring it to completion as He planned.

So let my heart find peace in this:

My salvation is secure.

Not because I hold on tight,

But because His love endures.

Once saved, forever saved—

Not a license to live in sin,

But a reason to walk in freedom,

And let His life flow from within.

Scripture for Eternal Security

No One Can Snatch Them:

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand." (John 10:28-29)

He Who Began a Good Work:

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

Sealed with the Holy Spirit:

"When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of His glory." (Ephesians 1:13-14)

Nothing Can Separate Us:

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

He Is Able to Keep You:

"To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy." (Jude 1:24, ESV)

They Shall Never Perish:

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:28)

He Will Keep You Strong:

"He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:8-9)

Eternal Life, Not Conditional Life:

"Whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24) — present tense, not future conditional.

The Gift of God:

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) — a gift, not a wage.

He Is Able to Save Completely:

"Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them." (Hebrews 7:25)

You Are Sealed for the Day of Redemption:

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." (Ephesians 4:30)

I Will Never Leave You:

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

Those He Predestined, He Also Called:

"And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." (Romans 8:30) — past tense, already accomplished in God's sight.

The Lord Knows Those Who Are His:

"Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: 'The Lord knows those who are His.'" (2 Timothy 2:19)

Born of God:

"No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God." (1 John 3:9) — a new nature that cannot be undone.

He Will Present You Holy:

"But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation." (Colossians 1:22)

Not by Works, but by Grace:

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) — if it were by works, we could lose it; but it is by grace.

The Good Shepherd:

"I am the good shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know Me... and I lay down My life for the sheep." (John 10:14-15)

He Will Raise Us Up:

"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day." (John 6:39)

A Prayer of Assurance

Heavenly Father,

My salvation is not in my own hands—

thank God.

If it were, I would have lost it long ago.

But my salvation is in Your hands,

and no one is stronger than You.

My Savior holds me,

and no one can snatch me away.

The Spirit seals me,

and the deposit is guaranteed.

I do not take this grace lightly.

It is not a license to sin,

but a reason to live in freedom,

gratitude, and love.

Let the assurance of my salvation

produce in me not pride,

but humility.

Not complacency,

but joyful obedience.

Not fear,

but peace.

For I am Yours—

not because I hold on,

but because You hold me.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
