The Gift I Cannot Earn

Bless me, Lord, not with silver or gold,

Not with the treasures that grow old.

Not with the praises of mortal breath,

But with salvation that conquers death.

Bless me with the gift You give—

Eternal life, that I may live.

Not by my works, not by my might,

But by Your grace, through faith in Christ.

No fading crown, no earthly store,

No fleeting joy that lasts no more.

But righteousness that stands secure,

A hope that will forever endure.

Bless me with the promised land,

Held not by my but by Your hand.

Sealed by the Spirit, bought by blood,

My name is written in the Lamb.

Not for tomorrow, but for today,

This blessing walks along my way.

For eternal life has now begun—

In knowing Jesus, the only Son.

So when this fleeting life is past,

And I have crossed the stream at last,

I'll stand before Your throne and raise

My voice in everlasting praise.

Bless me, Lord—I ask no more

Than what You promised at the cross.

Scripture for Eternal Salvation

The Gift of God:

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

For God So Loved:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

You Have Eternal Life:

"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24)

I Give Them Eternal Life:

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:28)

The Promise:

"And this is what He promised us—eternal life." (1 John 2:25)

Testimony of God:

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." (1 John 5:11-12)

Saved by Grace:

Born Again to a Living Hope:

Whoever Believes:

"That everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him." (John 3:15)

The Bread of Life:

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever." (John 6:51)

Not Perish but Have Everlasting Life:

"For My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:40)

The Free Gift:

"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!" (Romans 5:15)

He Who Has the Son Has Life:

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." (1 John 5:11-12)

Now Is the Day of Salvation:

"For He says, 'In the time of My favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2)

A Prayer for Eternal Salvation

Heavenly Father,

I come before You

with empty hands and a grateful heart.

I do not ask for what I deserve,

but for what You have promised—

eternal life through Jesus Christ my Lord.

I believe that Jesus died for my sins

and rose again for my justification.

I trust not in my works,

but in His finished work on the cross.

I rest not in my goodness,

but in Your mercy and grace.

Bless me, Lord, with the assurance

that I am Yours.

Seal me with Your Spirit,

write my name in the Lamb's Book of Life,

and keep me until that day

when I see You face to face.

Not because of anything I have done,

but because of what Christ has done for me—

I receive the gift of eternal life.
