This is the prayer of a heart that knows its own tendency to wander, yet longs to be pulled back into the warmth of the only Love that truly satisfies. It is both an admission of weakness and a declaration of desire.
"Draw me to your love."
The Scripture That Pleads and Promises:
Song of Solomon 1:4: "Draw me after you; let us run! The king has brought me into his chambers." (ESV)
Jeremiah 31:3: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. I will build you up again, and you shall be rebuilt." (AMP)
Hosea 11:4: "I led them with cords of a man, with bonds of love [a love that took them by the hand and drew them to Himself]." (AMP)
John 6:44: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him."
John 12:32: "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."
What It Means to Be Drawn to His Love:
· It is being pursued. You are not searching for a distant God; He is the Hound of Heaven, gently and persistently drawing you closer.
· It is being wooed. Not by force, but by the irresistible kindness of His heart. His goodness leads you to repentance and relationship.
· It is being reminded. When you forget how much you are loved, He draws you back to the truth.
· It is being anchored. In a world of shifting affections, His love is the steady pull that keeps you grounded.
The Beautiful Tension:
You ask to be drawn, yet you also run. This is the dance of divine love. He draws, and you respond. You run, and He catches you. His love is both the magnet and the safe harbor.
A Prayer to Be Drawn:
"Father of all love,
Draw me to Your love.
For there are so many other voices calling,
so many other loves promising satisfaction,
so many distractions pulling me away.
But Your love is the only one that truly satisfies.
Your love is the only one that never fails.
Your love is the only one that will never let me go.
So draw me, Lord.
Draw me when I wander.
Draw me when I grow cold.
Draw me when I forget.
Draw me when I am afraid.
Draw me with the cords of kindness.
Draw me with the bands of love.
Draw me with the beauty of Your holiness.
Draw me with the tenderness of Your mercy.
Let me feel the pull of Your Spirit
stronger than the pull of the world.
Let the gravity of Your grace
overcome every force that tries to separate me from You.
Draw me past my fear.
Draw me past my shame.
Draw me past my doubts.
Draw me all the way into Your heart.
And when I am there,
hold me close and never let me go.
In Jesus' name,
Amen."
The Promise of the Draw:
The same God who drew the stars into their orbits, who draws the tides with the moon, who draws the seasons in their cycles—this God is drawing you.
You are not chasing after a reluctant God. You are responding to the relentless, pursuing, unfailing love of a Father who has been drawing you since the very first moment you turned your heart toward Him.
Feel the pull today. It is gentle. It is persistent. It is loving.
He is drawing you closer.
Come.
