1John 1:9 amplified.

 1 John 1:9 Amplified

If we confess our sins—

Not hide them, not excuse them, not dress them in softer names,

Not shift the blame to circumstance or play the blaming games,

But bring them into the light of His presence, fully known,

Acknowledging the truth of what our hearts have long been shown—

If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins. (1 John 1:9, AMP)

He is faithful and just—

Faithful to His promise, faithful to His word,

Faithful to the covenant sealed by the blood of Christ the Lord.

Just to apply the sacrifice, just to make us clean,

Just because the Lamb was slain and justice has been seen.

He does not overlook our sin or sweep it out of sight,

But He has placed it on the Son who made the darkness light.

He is faithful and righteous [true to His own nature and promises]. (1 John 1:9, AMP)

And He will forgive us our sins—

Not some, not the easy ones, not the ones we can excuse,

Not the ones we think we've mastered or the ones we rarely choose.

But all our sins—the secret and the seen,

The ones that haunt our memories, the ones that haunt our dreams.

The sins of thought, the sins of word, the sins of deed and heart,

The sins we've long forgotten, the sins that tore us apart.

He will [forgive our sins and] cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, AMP)

And cleanse us from all unrighteousness—

Not just a surface washing, not just a lighter stain,

But deep within the spirit, through every hidden vein.

He purges the contamination, He heals the poisoned root,

He replaces shame with honor and gives beauty for the soot.

He cleanses the conscience, He purifies the mind,

He leaves no trace of guilt behind.

The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7, AMP)

This is the promise—solid, sure, unchanging,

On this rock of grace, my soul is resting, ranging

No more in search of other grounds on which to stand.

I come with empty hands and trust His nail-scarred hand.

For if I say I have no sin, I only deceive myself,

But if I bring my sin to Him, He places it on the shelf

Of forgotten things, remembered no more,

As far as the east is from the west, cast from the shore.

If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude ourselves and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8, AMP)

So I confess. I bring my sin into His healing light.

I do not hide, I do not run, I do not fear the night.

For in His light, I find not judgment but a welcome open wide,

The embrace of a Father who will never turn aside.

He is faithful. He is just. He is true.

And He will do what He has promised—He will make all things new.

This is my confidence, my peace, my rest:

That when I come to Him confessing, I am blessed.

Forgiven. Cleansed. Restored. Made whole.

This is the promise for my soul.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 2:1, AMP)

Amen.
