Let incense arise.

Here is a poetic prayer and a collection of scriptures about incense rising as a symbol of our worship and prayers ascending to God.

Let Incense Arise

Let incense arise from a humble heart,

A fragrance sweet to the Lord above.

Not from the earth, but from the soul,

A sacrifice of praise and love.

Let incense arise in the morning light,

When dawn first breaks and shadows flee.

A whispered prayer, a lifted hand,

"My Lord, my God, I come to Thee."

Let incense arise in the busy day,

When noise surrounds and tasks press in.

A quiet breath, a moment still,

"Lord, be my strength, forgive my sin."

Let incense arise in the weary night,

When sleep is far and fears draw near.

A faithful cry, a clinging trust,

"Hold me, Lord, for You are here."

Let incense arise from brokenness,

When words cannot express the pain.

The Spirit intercedes with groans,

And turns my mourning into gain.

Let incense arise from grateful lips,

For every mercy, every grace.

For love that saves and hope that holds,

For the promise of a heavenly place.

Let incense arise, O Lord,

From this heart You've made Your own.

A sweet aroma to Your throne,

Until I worship at Your feet, before Your throne.

A Prayer of Rising Incense

Lord God,

Let incense arise from my heart today.

From my morning moments,

when I first awaken,

let praise rise like sweet fragrance.

From my daily labor,

when my hands are busy,

let whispers of prayer ascend.

From my quiet hours,

when I sit in stillness,

let adoration fill the air.

From my weary nights,

when sleep eludes me,

let trust rise like incense in the dark.

I have no golden censer,

no altar of acacia wood.

But I have a heart

made alive by Your Spirit,

and lips that can declare Your praise.

Receive my prayers,

my praises,

my tears,

my silence—

all as incense rising

to Your throne.

For You are worthy,

and You listen.

You are near,

and You delight in the prayers

of Your people.

Let incense arise

from this life You have redeemed.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
