Please save me a habitual sinner.

Here is a heartfelt cry for salvation and a collection of scriptures for the one who feels trapped in habitual sin but clings to the hope found in Christ.

Save Me, Lord

Save me, Lord, I cannot hide—

The very sin I hate, I do.

The chains I've broken, still I find

Have wrapped themselves around me new.

I am the one who knows the way,

Yet walks the path I swore to leave.

I speak the words I long to pray,

Yet still my stubborn heart deceives.

Save me, Lord, not once, but every

Moment that I fall and rise.

For sin has made its heavy levy,

But mercy still before me lies.

I come not with a righteous plea,

No good works to hide my face.

I come because You died for me—

The only hope of saving grace.

A habitual sinner—yes, that's me,

Caught in the patterns I deplore.

But where sin abounds, I know I see,

Your grace abounds so much more.

So pull me from this miry clay,

Set my feet upon the Rock.

Not just for one victorious day,

But every moment—do not stop.

For You are faithful when I fail,

You are patient, slow to wrath.

Upon the cross, You did prevail—

Now lead me in Your righteous path.

I Do What I Do Not Want to Do:

"For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate... Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:15, 24-25, ESV)

If We Confess Our Sins:

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

A Prayer for the Habitual Sinner

Lord Jesus,

I come to You with nothing to offer

but my brokenness and my need.

I am caught in patterns I cannot break.

I do the things I hate,

and fail to do the things I long to do.

I am a habitual sinner—

but You are a habitual Savior.

You save not once, but always.

Your grace does not run out

when my failures pile up.

Forgive me again, Lord.

Wash me clean.

Renew my heart.

Strengthen my hands.

Set my feet on solid ground.

I do not ask for perfection in a day,

but for perseverance in the journey.

I ask not for the absence of struggle,

but for the presence of Your Spirit

to carry me through.

Thank You that where sin abounds,

grace abounds all the more.

Thank You that no condemnation remains

for those who are in Christ Jesus.

I am in You, Lord.

Hold me fast,

and never let me go.

In Your precious name,

Amen.
