Son of David, have mercy upon me.

 Amen. "Son of David, have mercy upon me" is the cry of a desperate heart—a confession that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of David, and the only One who can heal, save, and restore. It is the prayer of Bartimaeus, the blind man who would not be silenced, and of every soul that knows its need for the mercy of the Lord.

"Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, 'Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!'" (Matthew 20:30)

"Jesus stopped and called them. 'What do you want me to do for you?' he asked. 'Lord,' they answered, 'we want our sight.' Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him." (Matthew 20:32-34)

Lord Jesus,

Son of David, have mercy upon me.

Who sets the captives free.

I cry out to You:

Have mercy on my sin.

Have mercy on my pain.

Have mercy on my need.

I believe that You are the Son of God,

And that You are willing and able to save.
