Hear the cries of your people.

Hear the Cries of Your People

From dust we call, from shadowed deeps,

Where watch we keep, where sorrow seeps.

Our aching breath,our tear-stained plea—

O Lord of Heaven, bend Your knee.

You are not deaf; You are not blind,

The groanings of the contrite mind.

From captive chains, from weary years,

From fields made salt with fallen tears,

From hearts that break beneath the rod,

We lift our cry,O living God.

You saw in Egypt, You drew near,

Your ear attentive to our fear.

From beds of pain, from doubt’s dark night,

From spirits crushed and fled from light,

From homes where peace has turned to strife,

From every broken thread of life—

Incline Your ear, O Mighty One,

Remember us, Your wayward son.

From cities loud with pride and greed,

From lonely souls in silent need,

From those who faint beneath the sun,

Who whisper,“How long, Lord? How long?”

You are the refuge of the poor,

A present help, a fortress sure.

We have no claim but mercy’s ground,

No righteous plea but Jesus’wound.

We bring no worth,no clean attire,

But kindled by Your Spirit’s fire,

We dare to call on Your great name,

And trust the promise You proclaim.

So hear the cries of all Your own—

The shattered heart,the faith faint-grown.

Come with Your kingdom, with Your grace,

And turn our weeping to embrace.

For You have said You’ll dry all tears,

And banish in the coming years

All cries of pain, all nights of dread—

When every wrong You’ll right instead.

Hasten the day. Until then, hear.

Abide with us,dispel our fear.

And in the waiting, let our prayer

Be held within Your tender care.

You hear. You see. You know. You will.

Your covenant You shall fulfill.
