Unless the house is build by God, the builder will be in vain.

Amen. This is the foundational truth from Psalm 127:1, a reminder that all human effort is in vain unless God is the architect, builder, and sustainer. Here is a meditation on that vital scripture.

---

Unless the Lord Builds

Unless the house is built by God,

The labor is in vain.

The watchman watches uselessly,

Through wind and storm and rain.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

We may raise walls of skill and stone,

With plans both bold and grand,

But if the Lord is not the foundation,

It will not long stand.

We may secure the doors with locks,

And light the halls with pride,

But if His presence does not dwell there,

The soul stays empty inside.

So let me build what He would build,

And work where He would lead.

Let my ambition be His purpose,

My deepest hope His creed.

Unless the house is built by God

In faith, in love, in grace,

It is a shelter made of sand,

That time will soon erase.

But if He builds it—strong and sure—

Then though the storms may blow,

That house will stand through every test,

Because He made it so.

Build my life, Lord. Build Your church.

Be architect and wall.

Unless You build, I build in vain—

On You, I humbly call.

Amen.
