Amen.
This is the triumphant cry of our faith—the final, finished, complete work of redemption accomplished at Calvary. Here is a declaration of that eternal victory.
---
It Is Finished
In the cross—
where blood and mercy met,
where heaven’s justice and love were set—
a cry rang out that shook the earth:
“It is finished!”
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” (John 19:30)
No more sacrifice remains to be made,
no more debt on our souls is laid.
The work is done, the victory won,
by the suffering of the Holy One.
It is finished—our sin forgiven,
our shame forsaken, our hell-bound prison
burst open wide by love’s own breath,
conquering even the power of death.
It is finished—the battle is over,
hell is defeated, Christ reigns forever.
No more striving to earn His grace,
only resting in His embrace.
So we stand today, not in our own worth,
but in the finished work of His birth,
His life, His cross, His empty grave—
He finished it all, mighty to save.
In the cross—it is finished.
And in His finished work, we are complete.
Amen.
