A Grateful Heart
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
For every good and perfect part
Of morning light and daily bread,
By which our waking souls are fed.
This is the day the Lord has made;
In joy and thanks let praise be laid.
Give thanks for mercies, new each dawn,
For grace that lifts us when we’re drawn
To fear or dwell on what we lack—
He turns our wanderings gently back.
His compassions never fail;
They rise where doubt and darkness pale.
Give thanks for trials, strangely kind,
That work a patient,trusting mind;
For in the testing,faith takes root,
And bears the everlasting fruit.
Count it all joy when trials press,
For God is working righteousness.
Give thanks for Christ, the Living Word,
The sweetest song the heart has heard;
For nail-pierced hands,for empty grave,
For mighty love that loves to save.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift—
The burdened soul, His grace can lift.
Give thanks in all things—high or low—
For this is Heaven’s will,we know.
Not for the circumstance,but for
The One who opens Heaven’s door.
In everything give thanks, for this
Is God’s own will in Christ our peace.
So let the thankful chorus start
Deep in the temple of the heart.
Let gratitude become the song
That all our days and years prolong.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving here,
His courts with praise—for He is near.
