Amen.
This is the promise of Jesus Himself—a declaration that truth is not just a concept, but a Person, whose revelation breaks every chain. Here is a meditation on that liberating promise.
---
The Truth That Sets Free
You said, “Know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
But first, the truth must humble me—
Must show the chains I did not see,
The lies I took for liberty.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
The truth is not a theory, cold,
A fact to have, a tale retold.
The truth is Jesus, bold and bright—
The Word who shatters endless night.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
To know Him is to know the truth
That pierced the world in age of youth—
That on the cross, His love revealed
What sin had broken, truth has healed.
And in that knowing—deep, awake—
The prison of the false must break.
The chains of shame, the locks of pride,
All scatter when the Truth’s inside.
So let me know Him more each day,
In every word, in every way.
Not just to know about His grace,
But see the glory in His face.
For in His light, I am unchained—
A soul once bound, now unrestrained.
To know the Truth is to be free—
And free indeed, He says, to be.
I know the Truth.
He knows my name.
And in His knowing,
I am unchained.
Amen.
