Amen. This is a truth woven throughout Scripture—that God actively favors, dwells with, and gives grace to the humble, while He opposes the proud. Here is a meditation on that beautiful promise.
---
God Loves the Humble
God loves the humble, those who kneel,
Who know the depth they truly feel
Of need for grace in every breath,
Who see their poverty, and thus find wealth.
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”(James 4:6)
He draws near to the contrite heart,
The one who knows they’re just a part
Of something holy,grand, and vast,
Who holds their story lightly,fast.
“Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar.”(Psalm 138:6)
The humble ear is quick to hear,
The humble eye will hold Him dear.
The humble hand is open,free,
To take the grace He offers me.
For pride constructs a fragile throne,
And rules a kingdom all alone.
But humility unlocks the door,
To treasures laid up in store.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 5:3)
So let me take the lowest place,
And seek the shelter of Your grace.
To be a child, content and small,
Upon Your loving mercy call.
God loves the humble. Make me so.
That in Your love,my soul may grow.
And in that lowly,blessed state,
Find heaven’s gate is never late.
Amen.
