Resurrection of Jesus.

 Easter Dawn: The Broken Seal

A stillness fell on Friday’s gloom,

The Messiah sealed within the tomb.

A stone of sorrow, cold and vast,

As if all hope had breathed its last.

The Sabbath hushed in grief and dread,

For Love Himself lay with the dead.

But in the dark, before the sun,

The deed of ages was undone.

A breath of life,a pulse of power,

Within the silent,sacred hour.

He was not there; the tomb stood wide,

Where death had housed the Crucified.

Then tremors shook the waking earth,

With echoes of a second birth.

An angel,blazing like the sun,

Proclaimed the vict’ry Heaven won:

"Why seek the Living with the dead?

He is not here; He rose, as said!"

To weeping Mary, lost and torn,

Through blur of grief,a form took form.

She heard her name—one word, one tone—

And in that voice, her heart was known.

"Rabboni!"cried the breaking dawn,

The bondage of all sorrows gone.

To Thomas, doubting, wounded, sore,

He showed the hands, the side He bore.

No faith required of sightless trust,

But mercy meeting mortal dust.

"My Lord, my God!"the doubters sing,

To touch the scars that prove Him King.

Then on the road, with bread He blessed,

Their burning hearts could find no rest

Until they knew the Guest they had

Was He who conquered Hades’glade.

The Scriptures opened, clear and true,

In breaking bread their eyes broke through.

He stood upon the mountain’s crest,

With words that calmed the soul’s unrest:

"All authority is Mine,"He said,

"Go tell the world, once cold and dead."

A cloud then took Him from their gaze,

To rule through everlasting days.

So now the stone of every heart,

The seal of grief, can break apart.

For empty tomb and open sky

Proclaim that death itself will die.

He is the Firstfruit from the grave,

The One who mighty is to save.
