Here is a poem to God, woven with the comfort and truth of scripture.
My All in All
The world may shift like sinking sand, A trembling rock,a shifting land. Friends may turn and comforts flee, In this alone,my soul finds plea: That You are God,and You are mine, A truth as fixed as stars that shine. My heart repeats the ancient verse, A shelter from the universe: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge." (Psalm 18:2)
When fear arrives with whispered dread, And anxious thoughts fill up my head, When strength is gone, and hope feels thin, I find my peace, resting within The promise that You will not leave, Your presence,Lord, I will receive. I hold the words,a sacred rod: "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:8)
You are the stream in my dry place, You are the dawn of truth and grace. When I am lost,You are the way, The brilliant light of my new day. You are the bread that satisfies, The answer to my hungry cries. My spirit knows what David knew: "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing." (Psalm 23:1)
So when I say, "You're all I have," It is not from a place of sad, But from a truth, profound and deep, A vow my soul will always keep. For if I have You,I possess True wealth and holy blessedness. For who is there in heaven or space? "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:25-26)
You are my portion. You are my prize. The light of love within my eyes. My beginning and my very end, My Savior, and my dearest Friend. God,You are all. And all I need Is found in You,the living Seed. This is the truth on which I stand: "I am with you always." (Matthew 28:20)
