What a Powerful name it is.

What a Powerful Name It Is

A Reflection on Philippians 2:9-11, Acts 4:12, and Matthew 28:18

What a powerful name it is—the name of Jesus Christ,

The name that broke the chains of death and gave us endless life.

When we whisper it in weakness, when we shout it in the fray,

Mountains move, and darkness trembles, fear and sickness flee away.

Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name. (Philippians 2:9)

The name of Jesus—power to heal the broken heart,

Power to tear the enemy's schemes and lies apart.

Power to calm the raging storm, to raise the dead to life,

To silence every accusing voice, to still all inner strife.

It is the name that demons fear, that hell itself must bow.

The name that opens prison doors and breaks the iron vow.

No principality, no power, no force in earth or heaven

Can stand against the mighty name that for our sins was given.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

What a powerful name—for every chain to fall,

For prodigals to come back home, for prodigal hearts to call.

It is the name that speaks, “Be whole,” that says, “Your sins are gone,”

That turns the darkest midnight into bright and hopeful dawn.

So let the earth proclaim it, let the heavens sing.

There is power, power, wonder-working power in the name of Jesus, our King.

What a powerful name it is—my refuge, my defense.

In that name, I have my victory; in that name, I am immense.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” (Matthew 28:18)

Amen.
