Holy Communion.

 Holy Communion

A Reflection on the Lord's Supper

Holy communion—not a ritual or a rite,

But a sacred gathering at the table of the Lord.

The bread, the cup, the broken body, the poured-out life,

A glimpse of Calvary, a taste of heaven's accord.

“Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” (1 Corinthians 11:24)

The bread—the Body of the Lamb, the sinless One,

Who was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our wrongs.

We break it and we eat it, remembering what He has done,

And in the eating, we are healed; His love becomes our songs.

The cup—the blood of the new covenant, poured out for many,

For the forgiveness of sins, for the remission of the debt.

We drink it, and we are cleansed from every stain, every penny

Of guilt and shame, for the price of our freedom has been met.

“This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” (1 Corinthians 11:25)

Holy communion—not a solitary act alone,

But a family gathering, a body joined as one.

We proclaim the Lord's death till He comes back to claim His own,

And in this sacred mystery, we are united with the Son.

So we come to Your table, Lord—not in pride, but in need,

Confessing our unworthiness, yet trusting in Your grace.

We receive the bread of life, the cup that makes us free,

And we will not forget the love that put You in that place.

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

Holy communion—feast of remembrance, hope, and joy.

We taste the grace that saves, and in that taste, we are employed

To live as Your body, to love as You loved, to give as You gave,

Until we feast with You forever, beyond the grave.

Amen.
