The name of Jesus.

 The Name of Jesus

A Reflection on Acts 4:12, Philippians 2:9-11, and Proverbs 18:10

The name of Jesus—not a whisper, not a sigh,

But a strong and mighty tower reaching to the sky.

When the enemy advances, when the storms of life arise,

This name is our refuge, the answer to our cries.

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)

No other name in heaven can claim what this name claims.

No other name can wash away the guilt of all our shames.

No other name can open heaven's door and welcome in

The poorest, worst, most broken soul—forgiven from all sin.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

The name of Jesus—healing for the sick,

Strength for the weary, hope for the weak.

It breaks the chains of addiction, shatters the yoke of fear,

And whispers, "I am with you; I am always near."

So let my lips confess it—in the morning and the night,

In the valley of the shadow and in the victory's light.

The name of Jesus—my refuge and my song,

The name in which I live and move, the name to which I long

To cling forever. Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb.

The name of Jesus—the great I AM.

Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. (Philippians 2:9-10)

Amen.
