All I want is you.

 All I Want Is You

A Reflection on Psalm 73:25, Philippians 3:8, and John 14:6

All I want is You—not the blessings that You give,

Not the healing, not the answers, not the way I want to live.

I want the Giver, not the giving; the Friend, not just the grace;

The sweet communion of Your presence, the beholding of Your face.

Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. (Psalm 73:25)

I have tasted lesser treasures—the fleeting, hollow thrill,

The gold that rusts, the praise that fades, the dreams that overfill.

But none can satisfy the deep, the craving of my heart.

Only You, Lord Jesus, only You will never, ever part.

So take the gifts, take the answers, take the comforts I have known.

If I have You, I have everything; I am never on my own.

You are the pearl of greatest price, the treasure in the field,

The one for whom I gladly lose the lesser things I’ve held.

I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. (Philippians 3:8)

All I want is You in the valley and the peak,

In the silence and the suffering, in the victory and the weak.

When friends depart and doors are closed, when hope is nearly gone,

You are the stone the builders refused—my cornerstone, my song.

So let the world keep chasing its shadows and its dust.

I have found the only One in whom I place my trust.

All I want is You—not a part, but all of You.

My first, my last, my everything, my love forever true.

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Amen.
