Your Steadfast Love Never Ends
A Reflection on Psalm 136, Lamentations 3:22, and Jeremiah 31:3
Your steadfast love never ends—it is not a fleeting tide,
Not a fair‑weather companion that will run away and hide.
It is the anchor of my soul, the bedrock of my days,
The constant, faithful rhythm through all my wandering ways.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1)
It never ends—not when I stumble, not when I fall,
Not when I fail to answer my Redeemer's call.
For Your love is not a wage I earn by being true;
It flows from who You are, and who You are breaks through.
Through the wilderness and exile, through the desert and the deep,
Your steadfast love has followed, a promise I can keep.
Though the mountains may be shaken and the hills be removed,
Your unfailing love stands firm—it will not be removed.
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken.” (Isaiah 54:10)
Steadfast—not swayed by my emotions or my lack.
Not diminished by my distance, not weakened by attack.
It is the cord that binds the covenant, the seal upon the heart,
The sure and certain evidence that we will never part.
So when the night is long and cold, when hope is hard to see,
I will remember: Your love endures—it reaches even me.
Not for my worth, but for Your name, not for my feeble faith,
But for the cross, the empty tomb, the victory over death.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Your steadfast love never ends. It was, it is, it will be.
From everlasting to everlasting, it has set me free.
Amen.
