I Stand in Awe of You
A Reflection on Psalm 33:8, Revelation 15:4, and Psalm 65:8
I stand in awe of You—not a trembling, cowering fear,
But the wonder of a child when the Holy One draws near.
The stars declare Your majesty, the oceans roar Your name.
Yet You, the great I AM, still know my heart, my joy, my pain.
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere Him. (Psalm 33:8)
I stand in awe of Your power—You spoke and worlds were born.
You hold the universe in place; You turn the night to morn.
Yet this same power humbled itself to wash my filthy feet.
What a mighty, humble God, so merciful, so sweet.
I stand in awe of Your wisdom—beyond my highest thought.
The mysteries of Your ways cannot be bought or taught.
You see the end before the start, You weave through joy and grief.
Your knowledge is a boundless sea, my soul's complete relief.
Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to Your name? For you alone are holy. (Revelation 15:4)
So I stand in awe—not at a distance, cold and grim,
But with a grateful heart, Lord, for You have drawn me in.
Your awesomeness does not repel; it draws me to Your side.
In reverence and love, I come. In You, I will abide.
Those living far away fear Your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades, You call forth songs of joy. (Psalm 65:8)
Amen.
