Holy Spirit, Bless Me with Your Fruits
A Reflection on Galatians 5:22-23
Holy Spirit, bless me with Your fruits—not the labor of my hands,
But the quiet, inward harvest that in love forever stands.
Let love be the first blossom, the root from which all grows,
Not a selfish, grasping love, but the kind the Spirit sows.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace... (Galatians 5:22)
Bless me with joy—not the laughter of the crowd,
But the deep and settled gladness that sings when tears are loud.
A joy that is not shaken by the tremors of this life,
Because it finds its fountain in the midst of inner strife.
Bless me with peace—the calm that conquers fear,
The shalom that guards my heart when anxious thoughts draw near.
Not the absence of the storm, but the presence of the One
Who whispers, “Peace, be still,” until the raging is done.
...patience, kindness, goodness... (Galatians 5:22)
Bless me with patience—the strength to wait and trust,
To let the Potter shape me, though my own designs turn to dust.
To bear with others’ failings as You have borne with mine,
And in the waiting, learn to let Your holy light shine.
Bless me with kindness—a tender, gentle touch,
To speak a word of healing to the ones who hurt so much.
To see the hidden struggles and to offer not a stone,
But the soft embrace of mercy, making others not alone.
Bless me with goodness—a heart that yearns to do
What is right and true and lovely, not for applause, but just for You.
To shun the evil, choose the good, and walk the narrow way,
Reflecting Your own character in all I do and say.
...faithfulness, gentleness, and self‑control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Bless me with faithfulness—to keep my vows and word,
To stand when others wander, to have my spirit stirred
To follow You in seasons dry and in the fruitful rain,
A steady, loyal witness, unashamed of Your name.
Bless me with gentleness—strength that knows its rein,
Not the softness of a coward, but the power that restrains.
To answer harshness with a whisper, to break no bruised reed,
To lead with humble courage, planting love in every deed.
Bless me with self‑control—the mastery of the soul,
To rule my appetites and passions, to make my spirit whole.
To say “no” to fleeting pleasures, to say “yes” to what is best,
And in the quiet discipline, to find Your perfect rest.
Holy Spirit, cultivate this harvest deep in me.
Let every fruit of Your own nature from my life be seen, be free.
Not for my boasting, but that others may taste and see
That the Lord is good, and His Spirit sets the captive free.
Amen.
