I Want to Seek the Name of Jesus
A Reflection on Psalm 27:8, Jeremiah 29:13, and Acts 4:12
I want to seek the name of Jesus—not the name alone,
But the Person, the Power, the Glory that name has always known.
Not just to speak it in a prayer or sing it in a song,
But to know the One to whom all heaven and earth belong.
“My heart says of You, ‘Seek His face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.” (Psalm 27:8)
Seek—not a passive wish, but a holy, hungry chase,
A running after righteousness, a longing for His grace.
I will seek Him in the morning, in the quiet, in the Word,
In the whispers of the Spirit, where His voice is always heard.
The name of Jesus—there is power to heal, to save, to break
Every chain of sin and sorrow for the seeker's sake.
There is mercy in that name, there is peace for every storm,
There is love that never fails to keep the seeking soul secure and warm.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
So I will seek Him not for blessings, not for answered prayer alone,
But for the joy of knowing Him, of making His heart my home.
I will seek until I find Him, I will knock until He opens wide,
And in the seeking, I will learn to lay my worthless pride aside.
I want to seek the name of Jesus—today, tomorrow, all my days.
Not a distant search, but a walk of faith, a love that always stays.
And in the seeking, I will find that He has sought me from the start—
The name of Jesus is my treasure, my desire, my very heart.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
Amen.
